Bequeath the Sheath

Last week, ACC Literati - the English Majors Society - had its first-ever general assembly. As the outgoing President of the org, I still had to precide over the election of next school year's set of officers. I had no doubts about Jonah taking over and the election being more of an appointing than a voting process but I didn't actually expect to see more young and new faces joining the gen ass. Then again, I don't expect much these days and loads of story ideas pop in my head.

This week started with REPLIKA's very own general assembly, its first-ever as well since this year is its first run as an official group, with the same voting process turning into an appointing spree. Fortunately, Marx upped his game a bit and we added more committees to oil the art machine. Looks like REPLIKA's next year is going to be an entertaining run. Shame I won't be around to experience it. *winkwink*

With two more weeks, or three I don't really count that well, before this school year closes, it's going to be a nostalgic walk towards the end. Or something like that. I can't really miss people. I always keep in touch.

Pepe out!

Quaint Euphoria

Last night, before I went to bed, I stayed up for a few more hours to finish drafting a poem collection for tomorrow's Valentine event. I asked a few of my writer friends to contribute 1-2 of their best lovey-dovey poems so I can include them in my collection. Of course, credit will always be given.

Earlier today, I ran around town looking for a decent self-publishing deal. I had finished the layout and typed all the poetry up in one okay package so all I needed was to get someone to print them. Luckily, I remembered an older friend who was working at Eagle Publishing. Khalleen and I visited the place and we got our deal. Unfortunately, the output wasn't the same small book (ala ADMU Heights) I had imagined and was instead one of those larger kiddie books in size. It wasn't all bad though as it came out great, albeit not what I expected. At least I now know to draft my stuff on A5 Paper if I plan on publishing them on a small book size.

A few hours from now, Emem Zaldivar will be celebrating her birthday. She's an awesome writer and a greater friend. She was also one of those writer friends who contributed her work to my crappy compilation. She'll be 20 and I intend to be the first to greet her.

Tomorrow, REPLIKA will hold its Valentines Day Special Exhibit of sorts. That was the event where I was planning to showcase my first successful self-published poetry book. Jr Cheng, Khalleen, Xtian Abigail Seraspi and a few other members were with me earlier to fix the venue and we did good.

This summer, I plan to publish a poetry book before I move on with the next chapter of my life.

Looks like I've done good for this day.

Not Sleeping Well

So, apparently, I'm addicted to NBA Live 2009 again. Damn the BLOCK stat, which I am now obsessed with and using as means to annoy the game's AI. I wrote up my own version of the Detroit Pistons, retaining only my favorite five (B. Wallace, R. Wallace, Billups, Hamilton and Prince), with the creme ala creme of NBA Blocking as per the stat trackers of ESPN. Obviously, I am a hardcore B. Wallace and Pistons fan. Celtics and Spurs fight for my second fave team.

We had REPLIKA's Tri-Discipline Workshop earlier, not going to comment on that, and I'll be returning to school tomorrow for a dance practice - don't ask - and staff meeting with the Aklan Collegian so (yeah) I haven't been sleeping that well the past few days. It's not like I do get regular sleep anyway because it's effing boring.

Oh, and a comic artist friend of mine asked me if I wanted to be his writer on a collaborations project and I said yes. The problem's our plot but we'll get to that in a few days. By that, I mean after I get over the stress of the Boracay Final Editing I'll have with the Collegian. Geesh. Since when do Final Editings become stressful? Must be the dancing part.

Wing It

I just finished my two articles (Politics vs Economics and Catholic Education) for this semester's issue of Aklan Collegian. As the Feature Editor, I still need to edit the rest of my colleagues' feature articles (only a few have been sent to me as of press time) and write nonfiction or some poems to boost my literary ego.

Tomorrow, REPLIKA (the recently approved students art guild of which I am the President) will be holding its Tri-Discipline Workshop (on art, literature and theatre) and I'm supposed to deliver the opening remarks. Since I probably won't have any time to prepare my speech, I think I might just wing it. Introduce people to the organization, to the workshop, thank everyone and welcome them to the workshop proper... Sounds doable.

*crosses fingers*
