Batan Visit

Earlier today, I was at Batan to attend a family friend's wedding. It felt unscripted, mainly because no one told anyone what they had to do. So we mostly just winged it. It was fun that way. Even though it was so freaking hot that I felt my kidney getting roasted to a yummy crisp, I had one hell of a good time laughing at myself, my cousins and some other guys for looking so lost in something so familiar. My seatmates reeked of body odor though so it wasn't all pleasant.

After the wedding, we headed for the couples' house to eat. I went home bloated and sleepy. We had to cancel my cousin's plan to visit Latte and drink some more coffee because we all felt too buzzed to even walk around in the dreary Philippine heat.

We left home at around 7 am, arrived at the church at around a quarter to 10, left the church to eat at the reception at around 11 am and then went home a few minutes just after 12.

It was my first time to go to Batan, especially near the Poblacion which was very crowded and where the road was narrow enough to run over greasemonkeys. The bamboo trees were cool. In some areas of the road, they bridged together over the car making it all shady and cozy.

I also found some interesting things about the town like for example, it turns out I've got family there in Batan - the Silverio, the Maraingan and the Flogio. My mom used to stay there when she was just a little girl and she even attended grade school in Batan. She had a joyful time reminiscing about her childhood on the way to the church.

Tomorrow, we plan on returning for the couples' baby's baptismal. The good part is that I won't have to wear a suit for it (I wore a pink one earlier, which was gay but still sexy). After the ceremony, I'll go fishing.

Yeah. I'm really excited right now I can't even sleep. I am gonna fish me some damn fine carp and eat it too.

Lee Chaolan: 6 Machine

Yes. Tekken 6. I may be late but I don't really care. That thing's got me hooked and it's all my cousin's fault. Man, I really need to get a PSP.

My 10 year old cousin showed me his white PSP earlier. We drove around, bought formal clothes to wear for a family friend's wedding this weekend, ate at Chowking and dropped by the cemetery to visit my grandma and late aunt before we went back home. During the whole afternoon, I was playing Tekken 6. Lee Chaolan is one sexy man beast. Zafina wasn't bad as well. That mummified dragon fox thing didn't know what hit him.

I should definitely get a PSP.

As of this post, Blogger is having major glitch issues. This sucks. Guess tumblr truly is better.

My Sister, The College Student

I made a special appearance last night at my sister's graduation. Okay, it's not really special since I was bound to attend the event no matter what. The whole thing reminded me of my own high school graduation in quick flashbacks. Two of the Bulilit Boys, my posse since high school, were also there last night: Jed Fegarido and Miguel Antonio Sulangi. Both had their siblings graduating so it was inevitable. I also saw Rikka Formaran, Stephanie Policarpio, Zionie May Sabino and Joi Isturis - the latter three were like little sisters to me. Rikka was a big sister. 'Nuff said.

The Regional Science High School for Region VI upped their game this year, compared to our graduation (we had no yearbooks and no photo slideshow tributes by year) which was lackluster in comparison. I couldn't expect nothing new since they had a new principal, which means a new way of doing things. Sir Jerry Oquendo, the Regional Math Supervisor, graced the event with his presence as the guest speaker. He was an old teacher at the institution and I was in his class a few years ago.

The most retarded part was when a group of alumni (kids really) started yelling during Sir Oque's speech. They yelled in excitement, which was more gibberish than anything actually, where everyone was already listening intently. It was a clear show of misguidance, probably because they miss the attention, and not at all respect. In fact, it faintly reminded anyone of respect. As faint as the chances of me getting a million-dollar job anytime this year.

I assumed responsibility as my mom and sister's photographer, which proved to be hard with an old camera, until my aunt finally arrived with her daughter and son. Khalleen had a huge headache midway. From 1:00 pm, we ended the show in about 7:00. Yes, it was that long. I couldn't even stop myself from poking fun, practicing my blue comedy, in the expense of the valedictorian and the girl in a pink zombie shirt. How dare she combine two of my most favorite things in a political backdraft?

We ended the day with dinner in Mang Inasal (yay, free rice!) and then an unscheduled photoshoot in the town plaza.

The moon was full and there were no vampires. Just my luck, eh?

In other news, I finally submitted my resume the day before my sister's graduation. Now I'll just wait after the Holy Week to hear from them. Good luck to me!

Nothing Like a Good Cup of Joe

A few nights ago, Essays.ph contacted me saying that I had passed the first part of the application screening. For the second part, I was to write an applicant sample article. Either that or I travel to Makati for an interview. Since I obviously couldn't do the latter, I made do with the former and spent two days brainstorming on what to write. Finally, I finished an article of 600+ words. My article was initially 1,119 words and the instructions said I only need to write around 500 words but I decided to go with it since I couldn't think of anything else better to pass the second phase with.

True Blood found me this morning and once again seduced me to its nest of sex, blood and violence. A few days ago, I started reading Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, which loosely inspired the first season but essentially inspired the entire tv series. I just heard they were done with Season 2, which I have yet to begin watching, and were already working with the third season. Season 4 is in the planning phase as well. I just read the summaries for each episode of Season 2. Looks like things are going to be heavily supernatural.

Horror, as far as I'm concerned, is a tricky thing to write, mainly because you have to elicit fear from your readers. On the other hand, they say that anything with death and supernatural or psychological hell makes for something that belongs to the genre.

I'm now stuck in a creative rut for VDDC, my attempt at a sugarcoated horror novel, after staring at it for a few hours and thinking to myself, "Wow. This is fucking cheesy."

I'm in desperate need of the writer bug. I might steal True Blood 2's recipe of intertwined story-telling with 2-3 subplots thrown in the mix. VDDC is absolutely weak with its one plot. It reads poorly, as of this time, and I have yet to write anything aside from the flimsy Chapter One. Wish me luck!

To The Future

After what would seem like a one-day hiatus, I am back online tonight.

As most of you might know, I had my graduation yesterday so I was out all day from 7:30 in the morning till about 10 in the evening. It was a grueling day, mostly because of the heat, but it was awesome in the end. After all, I'm a graduate now. That means I no longer am confined to universities and are actively available for work. The last part might be a little hard to contain, especially since I am still on the look out for a decent job. I do have plans now but they are just that, plans.

If things go right, I might be away for another week, at least on SNS' (social networking sites). I might be scouting for paying jobs that time or taking my awesome puppies for walks. Either way, at least I'll be doing some things productively.

A New Day

After tomorrow, that is.

From 8 in the morning, the Graduates' Baccalaureate Mass will start. It'll probably end a few hours before lunch time but even then, we still have time to rest since the actual commencement ceremonies begin at 3 in the afternoon. Who knows when it'll end, though. There are still a lot of crap that are supposed to transpire before we go home. Call me stingy but I care little for those things. If I could, I'd actually prefer to have my diploma delivered and not attend the ceremony at all. I just hate waking up early and then waiting the rest of the day out. Thankfully, Khalleen's sleeping over so I can still at least bully someone into tears.

The good part about graduating is getting a job. In my world, that translates to getting a REAL job. Hunting for them is another pain in the rear.

Lunched Out

Because I was up late last night because of the Vice Presidential Candidates' Open Forum on ABS-CBN, I woke up at lunch time today. That cut my productivity rate, especially since later the afternoon I was already scheduled to get to school to finally receive my toga and programme for my graduation this Wednesday. The heat was still being a pain in the ass, as evident by my shorter than usual short fuse. Thankfully, everything came into place as I waited things out. I got my haircut, which lasted for about an hour (God, I hate these things), before we headed off to Seafront Bread Shop to enjoy a Neptune Pizza (mussels, shrimps and squid pizza). Mom, my sister Joy, my cousin Sherry and Khalleen were all there to enjoy the giant plate with me. It was a little unnerving how the waitress kept staring at me though. I think I might have reminded her of her little brother in the old country.

As of this time, all five of my recent literary deviations have been favorited once, with the exception of Life in Depression which now has three (3) favorites.

Tumbleweeds

One day power outages are both a pain in the ass and a welcomed respite from the usual mechanical days. Because I'm living in an island so close to the equator, it can get really hot out here. Without my electric fans, it does get hot and more than what I'd like. These days, the heat wave is making things so unbearable that my usually short fuse gets even shorter over little things. On the bright side, I do get some time to think quietly in one corner. I also get enough time to read things thoroughly. I feel more, stare at random objects more and have more time and peace to go back to basic writing.

Most of those don't happen though.

By 4:00 pm, I drove to church because I'm a Catholic and it's a Sunday. I also returned that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince VCD I rented from VideoCity but rented the Zodiac movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and Iron Man. It's supposed to be a thriller so I'm expecting to get thrilled out of my seat.

Man, I really need to write something new soon.

Normal day, Back on dA

Last night, I posted five (5) literary deviations on my deviantART account with varying awesomeness, though most of them are failures. They vary in titles and themes such as: Dear Greasemonkey (fiction in letter form), Why You'll Never (hatepoem), Life in Depression (non-fiction), Words (fiction) and Vampires Don't Drink Coffee (creative non-fiction). So, yeah, don't forget to check them all out. I'd love to hear feedback, even the scathing ones. We can't all survive on sugar, you know. The Library Lounge on deviantART accepted all five of my new deviations to their gallery so I guess that makes them read-able for some people. Now I'm thinking of venturing into digital arts or photography as a side passion. Weird since I can't do both well.

Days ago, a friend asked for me to proofread his work but today Yahoo Mail! was on a glitch so I couldn't email him back. My sister couldn't send emails too so it's possibly a glitch. Thankfully, later this evening, things went back to normal. Man, Yahoo! should maintain its good service or it may risk losing a majority of its users.

So instead of getting all worked up for the setback, I instead focused on and finished modifying my old resume. I downloaded my jobstreet one as well which means I now have two resumes on hand. Talk about being too excited to go to work.

To end the irritating day, I cooled my head by watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (HP6), which is still good in movie format, though I think it's much more better in book form. Of all Rowling's Potter Books, I do have a special place for it in my heart. It's tied with Tales of Beedle the Bard, of course. I have yet to read Deathly Hallows and that's a little painful to admit but, hey, it's just about finding the right time to read it now thanks to Marx and his e-book copies!
