To The Future

After what would seem like a one-day hiatus, I am back online tonight.

As most of you might know, I had my graduation yesterday so I was out all day from 7:30 in the morning till about 10 in the evening. It was a grueling day, mostly because of the heat, but it was awesome in the end. After all, I'm a graduate now. That means I no longer am confined to universities and are actively available for work. The last part might be a little hard to contain, especially since I am still on the look out for a decent job. I do have plans now but they are just that, plans.

If things go right, I might be away for another week, at least on SNS' (social networking sites). I might be scouting for paying jobs that time or taking my awesome puppies for walks. Either way, at least I'll be doing some things productively.

A New Day

After tomorrow, that is.

From 8 in the morning, the Graduates' Baccalaureate Mass will start. It'll probably end a few hours before lunch time but even then, we still have time to rest since the actual commencement ceremonies begin at 3 in the afternoon. Who knows when it'll end, though. There are still a lot of crap that are supposed to transpire before we go home. Call me stingy but I care little for those things. If I could, I'd actually prefer to have my diploma delivered and not attend the ceremony at all. I just hate waking up early and then waiting the rest of the day out. Thankfully, Khalleen's sleeping over so I can still at least bully someone into tears.

The good part about graduating is getting a job. In my world, that translates to getting a REAL job. Hunting for them is another pain in the rear.

Routine versus Uncertainty

A few years back, I’d scoff at those unfortunate souls who can do nothing but repeat college all over again. Little did I know, it wasn’t a simple equation. There were underlying factors that contributed to the mindset.

For 10 years, we’re contented with following routine because it’s concrete and safe. We’re secured in a way that we know what we’re doing. It’s for our future and nothing is easier than following a set of rule.

When we graduate, however, we are left with nothing but uncertainty. We have to decide on our own on what we want to do for the rest of our lives. Of course, the first step is to make money but now we are faced with the question of how. How do we make money? Do we apply for a job or rob a bank? Do we continue milking the cows that brought us to this Earth or do we break borders and go farther than where we currently stand?

Now that I’m on the verge of graduating, of starting a new page in my life, with countless variables looming on the horizon, I empathize with the rest of my peers. Truly, it is more of a battle between routine and uncertainty.

Fortunately, for me, next year has already been set.
